Company
Built for true data ownership
Ubimate exists because your notes should belong to you, not to a platform.
Why we built this
Every major note-taking tool today stores your data on their servers. That means your ideas, projects, and private thoughts are ultimately controlled by someone else's infrastructure, someone else's pricing decisions, and someone else's threat model. When a company gets acquired, pivots, or shuts down, your years of accumulated knowledge are at risk.
We wanted a workspace with modern editing, structure, and collaboration tools, but built on a different premise: your data stays under your control, always.
That is why Ubimate works fully on your device first. No internet required. No account required to get started. Cloud sync is optional for people who want it, and your content stays private.
Our values
Privacy-first
We design for the case where you want absolute privacy. Encryption is on by default, not a premium add-on. We collect the minimum data needed to operate and nothing more.
Local-first
The full product works entirely offline. Network access is opt-in. Your workspace should be yours even when the internet is down, when we're doing maintenance, or if we ever cease to exist.
Long-term thinking
We build for durability, not virality. Data formats are open and portable. Features are added when they're ready. We'd rather ship one solid thing than ten half-finished ones.
Transparent and accountable
We design security so core privacy claims can be independently validated, and we publish clear documentation about how data protection works.
Where we are today
Ubimate is currently in open beta. The desktop app (macOS, Windows) and mobile app (iOS, Android) are free to download and use with no limitations. A web app is available for paid subscribers. Cloud sync and real-time collaboration will launch as a paid subscription in 2026.
We're a small, distributed team with a focused mission — incorporated in Estonia and working out of Malta. If you believe privacy and data ownership matter, we'd love to have you along for the journey.
